JW "view" on organ transplants
by SnakesInTheTower inlast year when i renewed my driver's license i was asked if i wanted to register to be an organ donor.
of course, in the past, i never did.
joking with the driver's license employee, i asked if they wanted the arm and leg now... they had good humor and responded equally joking that it was ok, they would wait until i died.

You might try getting advice from a lawyer on what things are liable for a lawsuit.

If you were offered the position to run the Watchtower....

Would you feel any responsiblility to the millions of psychologically, emotionally, spiritually dependent members al around the world?
Would you consider all the lives built around and centered on the bOrg?
Would you break the truth gradually, gently and point everyone in a new direction over a period of time? Or would you tear down the BethelGod fast and videotape the bridge jumpers?

Burn,
These are good questions. They are why, IMO, it is best that the WT reform, not crash and burn.

This is the second story I've heard recently about HLC's giving medical advice and providing medical products.
How can this be true? Are they licensed to practice medicine? Has the WT decided to go into the business of distributing synthetic hormones? Isn't that a regulated industry in France? If it doesn't work, can they be sued for malpractice?
I agree, there is reason to suspect this story is not completely true.

My undercover saga - Part 1
by BonaFide inactually, this is part 8 or 9, i can't remember, but i thought i would number them from now on.. i am an active witness, and i want to help my friends and family.
i have had some success in trying to get them to reason, because i always state at the outset, and at the end of the conversation, that i support the faithful slave and gb no matter what.. so since i have a big vehicle, some of the older ones asked me to take them to special assembly day this past weekend.
i had already been, and i told you all about it, but i agreed.

BF,
I have enjoyed listening to your stories and very much applaud your efforts. One possible way to continue sharing your work with less risk would be to change some of the details in your stories that could be used to identify you. If the main point of the story is the same, we'll get the message. You might even put a disclaimer on the stories, stating the details have been changed, so that anyone monitering this site will know they can't trace you very easily.
Thanks for all you're doing!!

The WT organization is in need of massive reform. It will be a huge job to turn that ship around and put it on a healthy, positive course. They will never offer that job to any of us on this board. (LOL) Nevertheless, they can and are being pressured to make changes as we speak. It is a long term project, but I believe it eventually will happen.
There are many pressures from current and former members (like us), governments, and other circumstances, that are and will continue to change their direction. That is what it will take, because they don't have an incentive to change on their own.
I'm actually pretty hopeful about it over the long run. I have observed that the WT leadership has demonstrated a willingness to respond to carrots and sticks. Slowly to be sure, and only after they try to wiggle out of it. But over time it does happen. Unlike a small cult run by a deranged leader, the WT's size, history, and ambitions make it a religion that can be influenced to change for the better.

I would be very curious to find out what this actually entails. With only 14 religions on the "official" list, what does that mean (other than the right to teach in schools, which they don't seem to be pursuing at this time)? With the many thousands of religions in the world, I can't imagine that all of Austria's citizens fall into just 14 religions. I had not heard the JWs were banned in Austria, so what does the official change represent? And why did the WT want it so badly that they were willing to work for decades to get it? What did they have to do to get it?
I also can't help but wonder what relationship this creates between the WT and the Austrian government.
If anyone has answers about this or knows where to find them, I would love to hear about it.
Thanks,
Mrs. F
PS - I wonder if this was done on advice from their PR company in order to improve relationships with governments. The WT roundly condemns all governments. All they need to be able to accomplish in this "time of the end" is to meet together and preach, which I'm under the impression they were already allowed to do. So what do they want to get from Austria with this "official recognition" and why? And how does it affect their teaching that "false" religion's collusion with governments is condemned by Jehovah? Does that just apply to the UN, or to all governments?

Just speculating here, but my guess is they justify everything to themselves. None who currently run the WT originated it. They all started out as victims too. Just like for many of our family and friends who are still in, it would be painful to see the WT for what it really is.
This is especially true for those who have so much of their lives and identities wrapped up in it. For those at the top, they also have a lot of status, prestige and power. It is human nature to want to keep those things when you have them, providing even more reasons to keep believing.
That having been said, I also have wondered how they could not know they are running a cult. Some of the articles that have been written to defend them against such accusations seem to demonstrate a clear understanding of how cults work. IMO they, like all cults, are able to justify the deception they engage in.
Human beings have an amazing capacity for self-deception. Those who run the WT are no different.

My elder attacked by a demon!!!
by Albert Einstein inlast year we had a "sheperding visit" by two elders (one is aged 45, another one 28).
the older one is ... how to say it politicaly correct .... is not very smart guy.... the older one wanted to stress the importance of being close to jah.
so he he mentioned he is sometimes under demons atacks, they visit his apartment, turn on the light, and the other day ... imagine ... he was lying in bed, and the demon had come and laid on him, so the poor elder couldnt even breathe ... only calling upon jahs name did save him!

I agree with undercover. There could be an underlying health condition to blame. Please suggest that he make an appointment with his doctor to discuss the situation.
